The Federal Public Defender Office for the Western District of Michigan, with offices in Grand Rapids and Marquette, Michigan, has both Internship and Externship law clerk opportunities for second- and third-year law students. Law clerks work closely with attorneys and support staff in representing indigent clients facing federal criminal charges.
Law clerks typically research legal issues, write motions and briefs, attend court proceedings, and conduct client and witness interviews. Law clerks do not represent clients in court. Applications are accepted year-round.
